Power to Overcome Obstacles

As children of God we have been empowered to live a holy life, and to do those things that are pleasing in His sight. Jesus said, “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you” (Luke 10:19KJV). 

After His resurrection and before He departed to intercede for us in heaven, Jesus encouraged His disciples with these words, “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me… unto the uttermost part of the earth” (Acts 1:8KJV). 

When the Disciples saw him, “they worshipped him but some doubted. And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth” (Matt. 28:17-18). 

The world is seeking power to control and enslave others. But power in the wrong hands and for the wrong reason can be dangerous, because "Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely” (John Emerich Edward Dalberg Acton). 

Therefore, let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God” (Rom.13:1). 

Then Jesus said, "You would have no power over me at all unless it were given to you from above..." (John 19:11NLT). Let us join with Jesus Culture as they sing "Break every chain."


"Jesus answered them, “Have faith in God. Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours" (Mark 11:22-24).
